The Greensboro Parks and Recreation Department is hosting the grand opening of Declan’s Playground from 2:30-4 pm Sunday, October 5 at the Marylene F. Griffin Park and Recreation Center, 5301 Hilltop Rd. The ribbon cutting ceremony begins at 3 pm and light refreshments will be served.
This new playground will be dedicated in memory of Declan Nicholas Donoghue and is made possible by the Declan Donoghue Foundation, the Friends of Greensboro Parks and Recreation Foundation, and Greensboro Parks and Recreation Department. The Declan Foundation was created in memory of Declan Donoghue, who passed away in September 2010 at the age of two of a rare immune genetic disease. The foundation seeks to carry on the memory of Declan and his spirit of play by helping to fund and build playgrounds in the Triad.
