To receive state certification, a business must follow the guidelines set by a state agency. The City recognizes certifications as an MBE or WBE business from these two agencies:

• NC Department of Administration - 984-236-0130
• NC Department of Transportation - 984-236-1245

After state certification, the business is vetted by the City’s Office of Business Opportunity to confirm it meets the M/WBE Program Plan’s three criteria. Check out the City Criteria Web page.
