Greensboro Television Network (GTN) produces live meetings from the Greensboro Council Chamber. The chamber is equipped with four remote control cameras and a presentation system displaying data, photos and video on both a 6-by-8 foot screen for those attending the meeting and 19-inch monitors for Council members seated at the dais/desk. The presentation system can display flat art, PowerPoint, and DVD video. The presentation system is self-serve and residents should be prepared to load and run their own presentations. These facilities in Council Chamber are linked via fiber optics to a television production control room equipped with a Broadcast Pix Switcher, Telemetrics remote camera controller, and support equipment.
GTN also produces programs in the field using three Sony XDCAM EX cameras and three Avid Media Composer non-linear editors. GTN produces meetings and forums live-to-disc in the field using a Newtek Tricaster configured to handle up to three cameras and multiple audio channels. Character generator graphics and music for these live-to-disc programs is added in the field providing a ready-to-air show at the end of the event.
GTN's Bulletin Board is produced with a Leightronix Nexus and digital music is provided courtesy of Spectrum (TWC) and Music Choice. The bulletin board airs two times a day: 9:30 am and 10:30 pm. Every Wednesday, the music channel is changed to provide viewers with jazz, classic country, soft rock, and many other styles. The bulletin board may be preempted by live or replayed meeting coverage.
