The Behavioral Health Response Team (BHRT) has been specially trained to handle incidents involving persons with mental illness and those in crisis with care and expertise, ensuring such persons receive appropriate responses based on their needs.

The City's BHRT consists of Greensboro Police Department officers (read more on pg. 21) and the Community Safety Department's team of licensed clinicians and crisis counselors.

Our clinicians team is tasked with diverting certain people away from the criminal justice system and toward treatment, whenever appropriate and available.
