About the GCJAC

The Greensboro Criminal Justice Advisory Commission (GCJAC), which reports directly to City Council and the City Manager’s Office, is tasked with a wide range of objectives across the justice continuum. GCJAC's purpose is to:

• Identify, address and monitor issues

• Educate and advocate for the public by hosting forums on various justice-related topics and studying trends in policing strategies within the Greensboro Police Department (GPD)

• Providing perspective on policies that affect the public’s interaction with law enforcement.

GCJAC is made up of nine council-appointed residents, three of whom make up the Executive Committee.

The Police Community Review Board (PCRB) is a subcommittee of GCJAC. The purpose of PCRB is to review complaints filed against a member of GPD after those complaints have been investigated and ruled upon by the police department's Professional Standards Division. Neither PCRB nor GCJAC investigate any GPD complaints.

GCJAC meets at 6:00 pm on the third Thursday of each month. Commission meetings are open to the public. Meeting agendas and minutes are linked to in the Meeting Agendas & Minutes box on this page. *Every other meeting will be a Community Forum on various topics and projects.
