Downtown Arts provides support for and generates awareness about members of Greensboro’s visual arts community while enhancing the downtown environment with original works of art.

Artists who are full-time residents of Greensboro with a practice in painting, sculpture, drawing, glass, photography, digital arts or fiber arts may apply for our Downtown Arts Programs. Applications are currently open and the deadline to apply is by 11:59 pm December 1. Applicants will be notified of whether or not they have been selected for Downtown Arts by January 31, 2026.

Art on Downtown Kiosks

A $500 honorarium will be awarded to 10 artists whose artwork is selected for digital display on the 11 electronic kiosks in downtown Greensboro. Each artist will have one artwork displayed for up to a 10-week period from February 2026 to January 2027. Click the green buttons below to learn about the current artists.

Art in City Hall

A $3,000 commission will be awarded to one artist who will create a new, original work that reflects their creative perspective on the theme "Greensboro in 2025." This new, original work will become part of the City’s permanent art collection and displayed periodically in public facilities. Creative Greensboro will produce and install an enlarged reproduction of the original artwork to display in the Melvin Municipal Office Building (MMOB) from June 2026 to June 2027.

See Downtown Arts Call for Artists for full submission requirements and information about the selection process.
