Records Management is located on the third floor of the Melvin Municipal Office Building. We offer a wide range of City infrastructure documents to residents, visitors, developers and City staff.
Records Management maintains an extensive archive of plans within the City of Greensboro limits, including public infrastructure construction, construction plans, historical tax maps, historical aerial photography, GIS spacial map data, and City facility drawings.
Other services include: processing of petition requests to add water, sewer, paving, curb/gutter, stormwater and/or sidewalks for City services.

Records Management offers two levels of access to City of Greensboro records and all are available in electronic format.

"Open Public Records" are available by visiting our offices and are considered non-sensitive.

"Restricted Documents" are documents that are considered sensitive and require the user to complete
the Infrastructure Security Policy application prior to access. This is a service we offer to licensed architects, engineers and surveyors.

Petitions for Public Improvements
When a resident requests to add water, sewer, paving, curb/gutters, storm water and/or sidewalks, a Petition Form for Public Infrastructure is submitted to City Council for approval.Powell Bill Data
The Powell Bill Data program is funded by the state. It returns funds to the City based on the number of miles of streets constructed. Drawings are only available to licensed architects, engineers and surveyors. See Infrastructure Security Policy.Right of Way Information & Drawings
Right of Way Information are property drawings created by private and City engineers/surveyors. City drawings consist of "D" and "G" drawings. Private drawings consist of deeds and plats that are recorded with the Guilford Register of Deeds.Street Closings & Name Changes

Subdivision Plats and Property Drawings are created by developers and are reviewed by City staff. After approved, plats are recorded with Guilford County Register of Deeds.
