Receiving Tools/Equipment

Borrowed items must be picked up and returned by the resident who is taking responsibility for them.
Pick up and return takes place at the Greensboro Sportsplex parking lot, 2400 16th St., from 11 am to 1 pm Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays.

What Happens Next?

Once your Lending Request Form has been received, a Neighborhood Toolbox team member will contact you to make the necessary arrangements.

When you pick up your tool(s) and equipment, show your NC-issued identification and proof of Greensboro residency, and sign a copy of the Tool Loan Agreement and Waiver of Liability form. You will be given a copy of the waiver, which shows the dates of the loan period.

How the Program Works

How much does it cost to borrow tools?

Your participation in the Neighborhood Toolbox Tool Lending Center is free. The only requirements are that you:

Live within the city limits of Greensboro
Provide proof of residency such as a utility bill or lease
Provide a copy of a NC Driver's License or other government-issued photo ID.

You must show the City staff person these documents when you pick up your tool(s) and equipment.

I have a big job to do. How many tools can I borrow at one time?

This depends on the types of tools you need and their availability.

List on your Lending Request Form what the project is and what tools you think you need, and we will work with you to see how best to help. Limiting the number of tools loaned at any given time ensures more residents have access to the program.

Fully stocked trailer loan requests will be discussed with you when your request form has been received.

How do I get the tools and equipment I'm borrowing?

You must pick up items from the Neighborhood Toolbox at:

Greensboro Sportsplex parking lot (near the loading docks)
2400 16th St.
11 am to 1 pm
Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays

The same is true for returning tools. You must return them to the Sportsplex parking lot from 11 am to 1 pm Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays.

The program does not operate on City-recognized holidays.

If you are unable to pick up or return items due to a physical limitation or other reason, please mention this to the Neighborhood Toolbox team member who will contact you in response to your application. We may be able to make accommodations to assist you.

How long can I use the tools?

If I’m not finished with my job when the loan expires, can I get more time?

What if the tool breaks or stops running when I am using it?
