Gary Canapinno, Community Relations Manager, 336-373-2723

Gary moved into the role of manager of the Community Relations Division in June 2021. He previously worked for the City's Department of Transportation and has worked for municipal governments in Connecticut with the towns of Orange and Milford. In his role, Gary is eager to make the City's operations accessible to all, and is focused on assisting persons with any variety of disability.

In 2012, Isabel joined the City with the Human Rights Department and transitioned into her current role in 2015. As a seasoned Community Relations Specialist, Isabel understands the importance of relationship-building as a tool to address complex community concerns. Her primary goal is to effect positive change, assisting residents in navigating complex issues through a supportive approach. Isabel has a deep passion for empowering stakeholders with knowledge through the premier educational program, City Academy. In partnership with the Office of Diversity and Inclusion, Isabel assisted in launching the Hispanic/Latino Employee Resource Group, CONEXION.

Shatrina Smalls, Community Relations Specialist, 336-373-2723

Shatrina began working for the City of Greensboro in 2013 in the Parks and Recreation Department as the supervisor of the Peeler Recreation Center, and later, Craft Recreation Center. There Shatrina realized her love for Greensboro residents and her passion to assist whenever needed. She is eager and excited to continue to build bridges between the residents and the City as a whole. In her spare time, Shatrina is the owner/head coach of the Greensboro Kaos women’s semi-pro basketball team, part of the WABA, and plays their home games at Western Guilford High School.

Nicole Drummond started her journey with the City of Greensboro with the Transit Department in 2024, working with Access GSO. Nicole now serves as the Community Relations Assistant for the City of Greensboro. She realizes that the residents’ concerns are valid, and she believes that helping the residents with solutions and educating them will help strengthen the community. A former primary school teacher, Nicole uses her platform for networking new partnerships as she strives to give back to the community.
