The Human Rights Commission improves the quality of life for Greensboro residents by encouraging fair treatment and promoting mutual understanding and respect among all people.

Some of the Commission's more prominent events are the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Breakfast and the Let's Talk Series.

Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Breakfast - North Carolina Central Chancellor Karrie G. Dixon, Ed.D., is the featured speaker at the 2026 breakfast, which is themed, “From Words to Action: Advancing the Dream Together.” Tickets are sold out for the annual gathering, which takes place on Monday, January 19, at the Koury Convention Center.

Let's Talk Series Since 2021 the Human Rights Commission has hosted an annual series of virtual programs to inform the community about different human rights topics. The series has discussed various legal concepts, issues related to accessibility, and civil rights.

Email Deputy Human Rights Director Maria Kicks-Few for invitations and updates about these virtual programs, plus other Commission activities.
