Objective of Program
The primary objective of the Tornado Disaster Recovery Program is repair or reconstruct damaged properties of homeowners who have been unable to be helped by private insurance, FEMA proceeds or available community programs. A secondary objective of the Tornado Disaster Recovery Program is to acquire lots and create new homeownership opportunities in the tornado impacted neighborhoods.
Organizations will be subject to the City’s Minority and Women’s Business Enterprise program regulations and construction will be subject to the City’s Housing Rehabilitation Program's Rehabilitation Standards and Rehabilitation Specifications. If the City uses federal funds for any project, then organizations must also comply with all required federal construction terms and conditions and additional review processes.
Work Already Accomplished
Since last April, the City has worked collaboratively with community organizations through the Storm Recovery Alliance to raise funding for and awareness of tornado damages, allocate community resources, and coordinate housing relocation and repair services.
This Request for Proposals is an additional community resource that will be carried out in conjunction with ongoing, coordinated tornado recovery activities.
