Ambassador Program

Interested in exploring leadership-level careers and going behind the scenes of local government?

As an ambassador with the City Manager’s Office, post-secondary students gain an inside look at the operations of the City from the perspectives of staff and elected officials.

Students are placed with a primary field mentor who offers a behind-the-scenes glimpse of day-to-day and strategic operations over a period of time, not to exceed the course of one semester and/or 50 hours. Students serve in a volunteer capacity to learn and observe. The majority of the field experience is observing and shadowing the field mentor. Occasionally, field mentors may offer opportunities for students to engage in work under close supervision. These experiences allow students to learn about current issues and see first-hand the complex nature of the City's operations.

This program is an initiative of the College Commission and Parks and Recreation Department. The commission will screen applications for consideration and make recommendations.

Deadline to apply for the Ambassador Program is March 17.
