How do I know if the program is right for me?
aMTB opens the door to nature, new skills, improved health, and meaningful social engagement—but it can also be a physically demanding sport. We encourage you to first review our Eligibility Requirements and reach out if you have any questions or concerns. You’re always welcome to come try it out! Our instructors will guide you every step of the way.
What should I bring to a training session?
Please bring:
● A charged cell phone
● A full water bottle
● Any personal medications you may need
We also recommend:
● Sunscreen
● Bug spray
● A towel or cloth (especially on hot days)
What should I wear?
Wear clothing that protects your skin and keeps you comfortable outdoors:
● Long pants and tall socks (to protect your legs and ankles)
● A comfortable shirt
● Closed-toe shoes
Avoid loose or dangling clothing, and dress for the weather.
Do I need to bring my own helmet?
Nope—we’ve got you covered! AIR provides helmets.
If you prefer additional protective gear like gloves or eye protection, feel free to bring those. Your comfort and confidence matter most.
How long will it take me to complete the training program?
It depends! Everyone’s journey is unique. While some may feel ready after a few sessions, others may need more time. Safety is our top priority. At minimum, plan to complete at least 4 training sessions before graduating from the program.
How much does the program cost?
● Training sessions are offered free of charge
● The cost for reservations is $10 per 2-hour session
Where is the program located?
All sessions take place at the Keeley Park Adaptive Trail system:
4100 Keeley Rd, McLeansville, NC.
What do we do if the weather is bad?
We do not operate:
● During the winter season
● In or immediately after rain
● During hazardous conditions (e.g., lightning, hail, extreme heat)
If bad weather affects your session, we’ll contact you to reschedule.
Can family or caregivers come along?
Absolutely! We welcome family members, friends, and caregivers to accompany participants. Their support can make a big difference, and we encourage a shared experience whenever possible.
While they won’t ride the adaptive bikes, they are welcome to walk or observe along the trail, as long as they follow safety guidelines and stay within designated areas.
