The Drama Center offers summer day camps that cover a wide-range of theatre arts, including, Musical Theater, Film Making, and Playwriting for ages 6-15. No theatre experience is necessary for kids to have fun. 

Our instructors are professionals in their fields with decades of experience as performers and directors. Sessions have a maximum 15:1 student-instructor ratio. Each week ends with a free, live performance for family and friends.

Camp Overview

  • Cost: $200 early bird special; $250 if you register after March 3
  • Each session is five days, Monday through Friday
  • Camp hours: 9 am to 5 pm 
  • Location: Greensboro Cultural Center, 200 N. Davie St., Greensboro

Experience an amazing collaboration with the Drama Department, the Dance Project and Art Alliance to produce shortened versions of Broadway musicals. This is an opportunity for kids to learn acting and singing, dance, and set design. They will get a full theatre experience of one of two beloved musicals featuring a little orphan girl and a wily street urchin who vies for the attention of a princess.

Let’s Make a Movie

Channel your inner Steven Spielberg. Learn the techniques involved in making a movie both in front of and behind the camera. Write, direct, act, and shoot. The class will produce a movie.  Learn acting and movie making techniques, and the use of stage makeup. The class will culminate with the premiere of the completed film.

Calling All Playwrights

Create a play and present your play at the end of the week.  Students will act in each other’s plays.  Many topics will be covered.  Formatting a play for submission, writing dialog, creating characters, and acting techniques and presentation.
