The Planning and Projects team of Greensboro Parks and Recreation is responsible for planning and development of City parks, trails, and greenways. Staff work closely with other departments as well as residents to provide opportunities for everyone to experience the diverse recreational amenities our city has to offer.

Master plans are long range planning documents used for the renovation or development of specific parks. The first step in the renovation process is the creation of a master plan, which includes a history of the site, current site conditions, community engagement and demographic information, and recommendations. Most also include a site plan for renovations and cost estimates. This process can take 6 months to a year, depending on the size of the project.

The Planning and Projects team works with a landscape architects, civil engineers, and the community to create a vision for their park. After that plan is completed, Planning and Projects staff can seek funding for the full renovation or a phased renovation of the park. The creation of a master plan does NOT mean we have funding for the actual renovation.
