What is the F.A.I.R. Program?
- The Financial Assistance in Recreation (F.A.I.R.) Program helps Greensboro residents access Parks & Recreation programs by offering reduced fees based on household income and residency.
Who Can Apply?
- To qualify for F.A.I.R. assistance:
- Applicants must live within Greensboro city limits.
- Household income must meet program guidelines.
- All adults age 20 and older in the household must provide income information.
- Required documentation must be submitted with the application.
What are the dates to apply?
- March 2 - May 29, 2026
- All applicants will know status by June 12, 2026
How Much Assistance Is Available?
- Eligible households may receive:
- 25% Fee Reduction – Income Qualified Tier 3
- 50% Fee Reduction – Income Qualified Tier 2
- 75% Fee Reduction – Income Qualified Tier 1
- Additional assistance may be considered for households meeting the Extremely Low Income guidelines.
Which Programs Are Eligible?
- Youth and Teen Summer Day Camp at the Recreation Centers
- Afterschool at the Recreation Centers
What Are the Residency Requirements?
- Applicants must:
- Live within Greensboro’s incorporated city limits.
- Receive City services such as water, trash, police, and fire.
- Contribute to City taxes directly or through rent.
- Non-residents (outside of City of Greensboro) are not eligible for the F.A.I.R. Program.
What Documents Are Required?
- Primary Documentation:
- Most recent 1040 Tax Form
- Two recent paycheck stubs
- IRS Non-Filing Verification (if applicable
- Families receiving public assistance may submit eligibility notices instead of tax documents.
- Alternate Documentation (if needed):
- SSI or SSDI statement
- SNAP eligibility notice
- Section 8 documentation
- TANF statement
- Medicaid proof
- Unemployment or retirement benefits
- Financial aid documentation
How Do I Apply?
- Complete the Financial Assistance Application.
- Submit all required documentation.
- Staff will review your application.
- The Financial Assistance Committee will determine eligibility.
- You will be notified of your award.
- Pay any remaining balance.
- Applications are reviewed within two weeks of the program start date. Registration may proceed while awaiting a decision.
Is My Information Confidential?
- Yes. All applications and financial documents are reviewed confidentially by designated Parks and Recreation staff.
