Reserve your Hester Park shelter with our online reservation system.
Named in honor of Oka T. Hester, former director of the Parks & Recreation Department, Hester Park provides leisure recreation for people of all ages. The park features three soccer / football fields programmed by the Parks & Recreation Department, as well as eight lighted tennis courts.
Area fishermen can enjoy a well-stocked lake, offered free to Guilford County residents age 12 and under and $2 for all other anglers (NC fishing laws apply). The fitness trail (1.3 miles) will challenge both the beginner and expert athlete with an extensive program of exercise and jogging. Trotter Center also offers a variety of programs, as well as sports camps.
Park Amenities
- Seven picnic shelters with grills, two playgrounds
- Stocked fishing lake with four fishing piers ($2 per person over 12 years of age)
- Walking trails (1.3 miles)
- Two sand volleyball courts
- Four horseshoe pits
Picnic Shelter Information
- To get the shelter of your choice, we strongly recommend you reserve it. A reservation ensures your group will have the shelter of its choice on the day that you choose. We accept cash, checks, Master Card, Visa and Discover.
- Guilford County school groups receive a discount and must call the office at 336-373-5888 to make a reservation.

Shelter #2 Shelter 2 at Hester Park will seat up to 36 people, has 6 tables (6 foot tables) and 1 grill. This shelter has electricity and is close to the restrooms and playground. |

Shelter 3 at Hester Park will seat up to 36 people, has 6 tables (6 foot tables) and 1 grill. There is NO ELECTRICITY at this shelter. This shelter is located near parking, away from the playground and restrooms. Please note that the walkways to the shelter are unpaved and may be challenging to navigate for some guests.

Shelter #4 Shelter 4 at Hester Park will seat up to 64 people, has 8 tables (8 foot tables) and 2 grills. This shelter has electricity and is located directly across from sand volleyball court.

Shelter #5 Shelter 5 at Hester Park will seat up to 36 people, has 6 tables (6 foot tables) and 1 grill. Shelter is located alongside the Lake, and is close to parking, restrooms, and one of the park playgrounds. There is NO ELECTRICITY at this shelter.
