Greensboro Parks and Recreation offers Start Smart basketball, baseball and flag football throughout the year.

Start Smart was developed by top motor skills development specialists in the field of youth sports. Parent-child groups perform motor skill tasks that gradually build confidence in children while they are having fun. Start Smart participants will develop proper motor skills without the threat of competition or the fear of getting hurt, which will allow them to enjoy and succeed in youth sports in the future.

Greensboro is nationally recognized as a Better Sports for Kids Program Provider by the National Alliance for Youth Sports

Parent/Guardian Participation is required for all Start smart Programs

Start Smart Baseball

Register here beginning April 1 until June 6.

Six skill-building sessions, 6-7 pm, on Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday beginning the week of June 9 and ending the week of July 21. All sessions will take place at the Greensboro Sportsplex.

Ages: 3-5

Cost: $30 for six sessions. All participants will receive a start Smart T-shirt.

Start Smart Football

Register here beginning next Spring.

Six skill-building sessions, 6-7 pm, on Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday beginning in the Spring. All sessions will take place at the Greensboro Sportsplex.

Ages: 3-5

Cost: $30 for six sessions.  All participants will receive a start Smart T-shirt.

Start Smart Basketball

Register here beginning July 1 until August 29.

Six skill-building sessions, 6-7 pm, on Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday beginning the week of September 8 and ending the week of October 13. Session locations may vary.

Ages: 3-5

Cost: $30 for six sessions.  All participants will receive a start Smart T-shirt.
