Volunteer with the Greensboro Youth Council (GYC)

Each month, the Greensboro Youth Council hosts at least one event for the community or a service project. Volunteers are the heart of our work, and their time and energy help us create fun, meaningful, and successful events for the community.

Current Volunteer Opportunities

Sign up to volunteer at Ghoulash.

Note: If you sign up for the training, then you must also sign up for a shift.

  • Ghoulash (26)Ghoulash Work Days
  • Ghoulash Mandatory Training
  • Ghoulash Halloween Festival (shifts vary)

You will be assigned to an area for shifts 1 and 2. Areas to volunteer include, but are not limited to:

  • Trick-or-Treater: Pass out candy to patrons. 
  • Wristband Attendant: Give out wristbands to patrons for inflatables. 
  • Inflatable Attendant: Assist with and ensure safety of patrons in inflatables. 
  • Costume Contest Attendant: Help with each contest such as lining up participants and registration
  • Game Booth Attendant: Run a game booth. Reset the game and give out prizes, including Bingo.

Note: GYC does not host major volunteer opportunities over the summer, as we use that time to train our new Executive Board and prepare for fall.

Hosting an Event and Need Teen Volunteers?

The Greensboro Youth Council is proud to support community events by providing service-minded, enthusiastic teen volunteers. If you're hosting a public event and would like youth assistance, fill out our Volunteer Request Form with your event details.

Please note:

  • Events must be appropriate for teen participants (ages 14–18).
  • Volunteer participation is not guaranteed and depends on availability and scheduling.

Please note that volunteer times may differ from event times. Volunteer shift include event set up and breakdown.
