The Greensboro Youth Council is now welcoming 8th graders to start early with meaningful volunteer experiences and leadership development. Join us for year-round service learning, workshops, and community impact!

By joining GYC, you can gain valuable leadership experience, participate in meaningful volunteer projects, attend skill-building workshops, build new friendships, and receive recognition for your contributions.

Become a  Junior GYC Member in Four Easy Steps!

  • Step 1: Attend a GYC Orientation/Interest meeting.
    • Orientations are open August-March.
      • Note: Open House counts as an orientation!
    • Parents are invited to attend a parent orientation to learn more about the program.
  • Step 2: Complete a Junior High GYC Application. 
    • Please note that all applications will go through a blind evaluation for members to be selected.
    • Submit an application.
  • Step 3: Pay a one-time $15 membership fee.
    • Once selected, you will receive an email with the link to register. The fee covers the 8th grade year.
      • Note: After payment submission, an e-mail confirmation will be sent with an additional "get to know you" form once the form and fees are received. Please note this can take 5-7 business days.
  • Step 4: Sign up to start volunteering.
    • Volunteer opportunities will be posted on the GYC Volunteer Opportunities page.
    • Junior GYC members will also receive information to access on online volunteer management system to track hours.

Members receive perks for their service such as gift cards, service awards, and more!
