The Greensboro Board of Adjustment is a quasi-judicial body responsible for hearing and deciding appeals, variance requests, special exceptions, and interpretations of the zoning regulations. In doing this, the board is charged with upholding the purpose and intent of the development ordinance when there are practical difficulties or unnecessary hardships that result from carrying out the strict letter of the law. Please review the flow chart of the Board of Adjustment Process.
The Board of Adjustment is composed of seven members appointed by City Council for three year terms. Regular meetings are held on the fourth Monday of each month at 5:30 pm in the Council Chamber of the Melvin Municipal Office Building (MMOB).
The Board of Adjustment adheres to a prescribed set of "Rules of Procedure" to ensure efficient operation.
