Want to go to the NC Folk Fest Sept. 6 - 8? GTA has your (free) ride!
In support of the 2019 NC Folk Fest, all GTA bus services will operate fare free for the weekend. Some 16 routes across Greensboro merge downtown at the historic J. Douglas Galyon Depot directly adjacent to the festival area. The hours of free service are:
Friday, September 6 from 3 pm to 12 am
Saturday, September 7 from 6 am to 10 pm
Sunday, September 8 from 6 am to 6 pm
Just a few steps from the bus, visitors will find dozens of performers along with plenty of delicious food and wares for sale. Of course, there are also plenty of permanent downtown merchants opening their doors for festival-goers during the weekend.
All buses are air-conditioned and equipped for persons with disabilities including reserved seating and wheelchair tie-downs. For the cyclists, buses also contain bike racks capable of carrying up to two bikes at a time. Many of the buses feature sustainable battery-electric propulsion and on-board phone charging.
To ride the bus for free, no pass is needed. Just step on board, grab a seat and prepare to be delivered to the fun!
