The MTP is the starting point for identifying transportation needs, funding, and construction timelines. This process is updated every 4-5 years to remain current with regional needs and trends. Federal regulations require that a transportation project must be identified in the MTP for it to receive federal or state funding for the design and construction process.

The 2050 MTP is important for building an effective and efficient transportation system, by examining how we move around the Greensboro region for the next 25+ years. The process will include:

• a comprehensive analysis and reassessment of project recommendations including future roadway improvement needs

• A new approach to roadway safety through coordination with the Comprehensive Safety Action Plan focused projects

• A comprehensive update of transit needs including incorporating the vision and recommendations of the GoBoro Transit Plan
