To Start Water/Sewer Service:

Submit a Request for Water/Sewer Service Application for each service address. You will be required to provide:

• 2 Forms of Identification (Government-issued ID and Proof of Address; see application for acceptable documents).

• A Deposit and Service Fee (varies by customer type; for residential tenants, the total is $165). Payments can be made by mailing a check or paying in person at the J. Edward Kitchen Operations Center.

Service will not be connected until the deposit and service charge have been received.

For Landlords: A completed CIS Form is required to waive the $15 service fee. To request a CIS number, complete the form and submit it by email to cogcc@greensboro-nc.gov or by mail or fax to the address listed on the form.

To remove water service from your name, be prepared to provide:

• The address where service is being stopped.
• The date you want the water turned off and read for the final bill.
• A forwarding address for your final bill and any potential refund check.
  • *Tenants: Any deposit paid at the start of service will be applied to the final bill. Any remaining credit will be refunded to the forwarding address.

Ways to Request Disconnection:

• By Phone: Call 336-373-CITY (2489) to terminate your account. 
• Online: Request a disconnection through your GSO WaterWise account (online payment portal).

If Disconnecting and Signing Up for New Service:
If you are disconnecting service at the same time you are signing up for new service in the greater Greensboro area, include your previous address and desired disconnection date at the bottom of the Request for Water/Sewer Service Application. Any final bills or possible refunds will be mailed to the new location where you are signing up for service.
