What is the SLWA program?
The City of Greensboro has partnered with Service Line Warranties of America (SLWA), an independent company, to offer optional protection plans that help homeowners cover the cost and inconvenience of repairs to exterior water and sewer lines, lines that connect to utility systems, and interior plumbing and drains.
Is this a City of Greensboro product?
No, SLWA is an independent company. However, the City has partnered with SLWA to introduce these optional plans to Greensboro homeowners at no cost to the City. All program proceeds received by the City will fund a planned City/Guilford County customer assistance program.
What do the plans cover?
Plans are available for the exterior water service line and the exterior sewer/septic line on the homeowner's property, between the home and the City’s utility connection.
What am I responsible for?
As a homeowner, you are responsible for your exterior water service line and exterior sewer/septic line. In the event of an exterior service line emergency, the homeowner must find someone to make the repairs and cover the associated costs. These service lines are not covered by the City of Greensboro and are often excluded from basic homeowners' insurance plans.
