The Greensboro Civil Service Board (CSB) is established and authorized with certain powers pursuant to the provisions of Senate Bill 9, Session Law 2023-112 of the 2023 Session Laws of the North Carolina General Assembly, known and hereinafter referred to as the “Greensboro Civil Service Law", and codified in Section 7.45 of the Greensboro City Charter and Related Laws of the City of Greensboro.
The Board is authorized by the Civil Service Law to conduct a hearing, in the event of a timely request from a member of the classified service, as defined in the Civil Service Law, when that member is discharged, suspended, reduced in rank, transferred against his or her will or is denied any promotion or raise in pay to which he or she would be entitled. The Board has other powers and duties as prescribed by the Civil Service Law.

Qualifications:
- All applicants must be residents of the City of Greensboro and registered to vote in the City of Greensboro.
- All applicants must not be employed by the City of Greensboro. Former employees are eligible if they have been separated for at least 7 years.
- All applicants must not currently serve on the Greensboro City Council.
- All applicants must not have a financial relationship with the City of Greensboro.
- All applicants must not have an immediate family member or spouse of an immediate family who has a financial relationship with the City of Greensboro.
- All applicants are required to take an oath to uphold the law and adhere to regulations as set forth by the Board and City Council.
- All applicants will be required to sign a confidentiality statement if selected.
