Home MenuShopper's Day
Shopper's Day was started in the mid 1980’s to give people with disabilities an opportunity to come out, shop, and socialize in a fun, safe environment with others like themselves. The event today is the largest event that the Mayor’s Committee sponsors each year. Shopper's Day has grown from less than 100 attendees in the 1980’s, to around 1,000 attendees as of 2024. This event is funded through donations and fundraisers.
Shopper’s Day is now a day for all people with disabilities to come together, see old friends, make new friends, and show off their talents while serving as entertainers as they celebrate the holiday season. The Mayor’s Committee provides refreshments, free gift wrap, visits with Santa (and pictures with Santa if they choose), entertainment, and gives each shopper $10 to help with their shopping or lunch. It is a day full of smiles and happy hearts. Area high school students come out to assist shoppers who request assistance. This gives our future leaders a first-hand experience with people with disabilities and the barriers that exist in our community that many people have to overcome every day.
Shopper’s Day will be held on Thursday, December 11, 2025 from 10:30 am to 1 pm at Four Seasons Town Center, 410 Four Seasons Town Center.
